Business Sales Representative

Valley Fiber sees the role of our Business Sales Representative (BSR) as critical in the growth of its rural fiber to the premise (FTTX) business. 

The BSR will be responsible for inside sales to complex small businesses, both outbound and inbound. Utilizing calling, social media, email, and other digital means as your primary methods, the intent is to find and win complex small business services to augment the sales effort of Territory and Specialized Account Executives.

On a daily basis, the role requires:

  • Outbound and scheduled sales calls with prospective clients
  • Qualifying outbound and inbound leads to either pass-off to an Account Executive or Sell directly.
  • Determining a client’s business needs and identifying where Valley Fiber’s solutions can address the client’s requirements

Complex Small business are defined as having less than 10 employees, and based on industry type, they may have a requirement for more complex telecommunications services or SLA-based services.

Examples could include a small manufacturing business, a small car dealership, or a small real-estate firm.  

We view success in sales as a function of the outcome of a methodical and disciplined approach, or as we call it—the science of selling that includes:

  1. Listening and Communication skills meant to
    1. capture clear understanding of our clients business problems and
    1. articulate how our communication solutions can address those problems and help the customer achieve their strategic goals.
  2. Understanding the importance of relationships, and leveraging referrals and networks to build on past success.
  3. Understanding the “algorithm” and linkage between quality sales activities and how to manage those opportunities through to a successful sales agreement. 
  4. A deep concern to ensure that our team and organization execute flawlessly in the initial deployment and ongoing sustainment of a solution.

Post sales, or completion of legal contract, remaining aware of internal implementation efforts, customer training, and after-sales support, and in contact with the client to ensure that the solution is fully implemented to their satisfaction.

The role requires a minimum of (40) hours a week.  The successful candidate will reside at one of VF’s Winkler, Lockport, or Winnipeg offices, and periodically customer locations throughout our expansive, rural footprint.

Valley Fiber BSRs earn an attractive compensation package consisting of:

  • Base salary
  • Sales commissions with uncapped earnings, including multipliers for exceeding monthly targets

Qualifications: 

  • 1+ years of experience in sales, preferably in B2B telecommunications or related industries.
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of the telecommunications industry, including fiber optic networks, wireless networks, and related technologies
  • Familiarity with the unique needs and challenges of Manitoba Businesses
  • Excellent selling skills
  • A keen interest in telecom and IT issues
  • Presentation skills
  • The ability to prepare reports and proposals
  • The ability to manage your time and plan your day effectively
