Assistant Controller (Winkler & Winnipeg)

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our growing Finance team. As Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations. Working closely with the Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating and tracking payables/receivables and billing. You will be involved in special projects that require a full accounting cycle and internal/external reporting.

What You’ll Do:

• Financial Reporting: Assemble monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Process Improvement: Establish efficiencies in systems and operating procedures.
• Month-End Close: Prepare and oversee month-end closeout procedures.
• Accounts Management: Coordinate and track payables/receivables and billing.
• Special Projects: Participate in special projects, requiring full accounting cycle and internal/external reporting.
• Compliance: Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
• Support: Report to the Controller as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial needs.

What You Bring:

• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience;
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation or working towards it is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; proficiency in NetSuite is preferred.
• Experience in construction accounting is an asset.
• Must have a valid driver’s license;
• Strong problem-solving skills;
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality;
• Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing data, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work;
• Ability to concentrate and focus for extended periods;
• Ability to work well with others as well as independently;
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
